Travel insurance-what does it mean for you?
Trip cancellation refers to cancel before your trip while interruption of trip indicates a problem during the journey. Whether you or your travel companions one gets hurt or sick, and you need to cancel your plans. This travel and insurance come to the rescue.
If you have a medical emergency? I think that your health insurance covers you? It may be for you. But most health insurance policies do not cover you outside the United States. Medical care includes starting when you travel abroad. See if you're covered when you travel to your next destination.
What happens if you are sick and need to fly? Or need medical care for your flight home. This can be very expensive.
It has reached your destination only to find that you have no luggage? What if you're ready for a cruise? Now, what? Get to the airport just to find out what flight? If the delay causes you to miss, your flight connected? Travel insurance will reimburse you for hotel accommodation and meals while you wait for the next flight out. But what if your flight leaves on time and you can get hold of in traffic and miss your flight? You probably won't be covered.

Check with your homeowner's policy. Has already covered things like lost luggage. Be sure to test the maximum coverage they may be limited in compensation. Check your medical insurance and find out what is covered when you are traveling away from home. Check out if you're covered when you travel abroad. Finally, check your credit card coverage. Some credit cards will provide a limited amount of insurance if the flight reservation using their credit card. If you have a credit card, check with the airline. They may have better coverage if you are traveling with them. But it may not cover the credit cards that are being flown home. Health insurance and credit cards don't usually cover travel emergencies.
Once you decide you need travel insurance, read the fine print. Check to see if there is any time limits on buying insurance before your trip. See if it covers along the journey. Make sure that your destination is covered. If it is the Government's warning to visiting a particular country, you may not be covered if you go there.
What if you get sick? Make sure that you list all medications you are currently taking. Failure to do so could invalidate your policy. What if a family member gets sick and you want to cut the trip short. Most travel insurance policies would not cover it unless it were a death in the family. There is an option called "Cancel for any reason." If you have older relatives back home, you may want to consider this option for peace of mind. This will allow you to cut the trip short and return home for any reason. Even if you just changed your mind and decided not to go.
Check the fine print and decide if buying travel insurance is right for you. You may be glad you did!
